Good evening, Giraffe Nation. This is Mr. W, Principal of Jesse Wharton Elementary School, with some important reminders for the upcoming week!

First, it was so nice to meet many of our new and incoming Giraffes on Thursday evening. We look forward to having your families join our school community! 

The first day of school is Monday, August 25^th.

Student class placements will be provided for parents and families on Tuesday, August 19^th. Each family will receive a welcome message from your student’s classroom teacher. 

Kindergarten Orientation will be on Thursday, August 21^st. Students with a last name beginning with A-L will meet their teacher from 9-11am, and students with a last name of M-Z will meet their teacher from 12-2pm. Students will spend time in their assigned classroom, do some activities with their teacher, do a craft, have a snack and more to make sure each kindergarten student is ready for the first day of school. 

Jesse Wharton Open House Night will be on Thursday, August 21^st. Please plan to come during the following staggered times to meet your teachers, join the PTA, see your friends, and tour the building.

               Student Last Name L- R 6:00 pm

               Student Last Name S-Z 6:30 pm

Sunday, August 24^th I want to personally invite our parents to come out and “Chalk the Walk” the evening before our first day from 5-6pm. We will have sidewalk chalk available for any parent who would like to come write or draw an inspirational message to your student, your student’s teacher, or just a general message of well wishes! 

Kindergarten parents, please be sure to submit your student’s health assessment information. All Kindergarten students are required to provide health assessment and immunization information by the 30^th day of school for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Jesse Wharton School Supply list has been attached to the message as well; however, keep in mind that teachers may have some other items students may need and that information will be provided at Open House. 

Our parents’ support and involvement is an important part of what makes Jesse Wharton special, please take a few minutes and complete the Volunteer Registration form for the upcoming school year. Soon we will be sharing some opportunities for parents to volunteer in a variety of ways throughout the school year.

A reminder for our students that we will be celebrating our students who submit a GCS Summer Reading Challenge minutes in Beanstack, so if you have read for 30 minutes a day throughout the summer be sure to log those minutes!
